Mid-century Modern Plant Stand

I am really in love with the mid-century modern plant stands you can find at just about any home decor store these days, but the prices are crazy for them! I did not want to spend a fortune so I thought I could probably create something that looks similar from things I already have in my crafting stash. This is what I came up with - pretty cute right?

Here are the supplies I used to make this plant stand:

- 23 Tumbling Tower Game blocks from Dollar Tree (1 package was enough)

- Gorilla Clear Grip Adhesive (or wood glue, super glue or E6000)

- Ruler or other straight item to line your blocks up to

NOTE: Once complete, the stand measures 5.5" wide x 7.5" tall. If you need a larger size, you will need to adjust the number of blocks used.

Begin by lining 4 blocks next to a ruler like the above photo shows to get a really straight line. Glue the ends together to form one long piece. Repeat this step 3 more times until you have a total of 4 legs. Set aside to dry.

Next, glue 3 blocks together like the above photo shows to create a square shape. Set aside to dry.

Allow all pieces to dry before moving on to the next step.

On each of the 4 legs, glue one block to the 1st block on the end that is touching the block next to it like shown below. Allow to dry before assembling the planter.

On the end that is sticking up on each leg, add glue to adhere to the square piece we made earlier. You will be gluing one leg to the middle of each side of the square.

Allow to dry fully before adding a planter.

Once the planter was fully dry, I added a planter along with a faux fern plant from IKEA that I already had on hand. I chose to leave mine in its natural wood look but you could certainly paint or stain it for a different appearance to the plant stand. I think I am going to be making a few more of these for the home soon.
